KENNEL HISTORYAga Yaga kennel was founded in spring 2005. We intend to breed healthy, sound and beautiful Airedales in a family surrounding. Our foundation bitch is called Era Fargo Korak, but we call her Agatha. She really has the typical terrier character with a specific sense of humour, sturdiness and amazing temperament.
I fell in love with dogs many many years ago, when I was a child. After long discussions with my parents, the whole family decided for a breed, which was at that time rather popular – Airedale terrier. It was in 1982.
My parents arrived with a beautiful male puppy, whose lofty name was XENIR BOHEMIAN TORAS, but we simply called him Xen. We didn´t know anything about breeding or training. Nevertheless we took part in the breeding examination of youth, where they told us that our Xen had one P1 missing and thus could not be used in breeding. That fact made us no harm, as we only wanted Xen to become our family pet. And so he did, we had spent fantastic 15 years together. Thanks to him I got to know Airedales and their amazing temperament and character.
I also started to train boxer BRIT. He was a marvellous dog, strong and dominant, whose favourite activity was protection work. I passed any possible trials(he did not have a pedigree so we could not take IPO or SchH), we participated in many competitions and I will never forget him.. Xen and Brit were my soul mates during childhood and they taught me many things connected with their communication, training and behaviour.
After Brit I had trained many other dogs, mainly for my amusement. I always passed some working trials with them to have the opportunity to take part in competitions. One dog I definitely must mention – rottweiler BERNIE BOHEMIA ROTT-BOX(1996 - 2006).
I met Bernie as a young male who was teasing his owners and had no obedience at all. I had passed 5 working trials with him (ZM, ZVV1,ZVV2, IPO1, SChH1), we went to International shows(two times CCs, always Excellent), we went through hip dysplazia examination (HD A) and Bernie was officially recommended for breeding. That was the first time when I started to observe things around RTW breeding and mating and also to think about my own kennel.
From one Bernie´s mating I kept female Dora (D.O.B. 6.6.2000). She was really promising in her temperament and character for training, fond of tracking and protection work. I have passed only one obedience exam with her and then, unfortunately, the fate played a dirty trick on us. Recently Dora is after the fourth surgery of knee ligaments and so we are happy to see her walking and not limping. She retired too early for me, but I am glad she is doing quite well.
Health of the RTW breed was one of the main reasons why I decided to come back to Airedales. In 2001 I entered the Airedale terrier club of the Czech republic to have all the possible information about HD, litters and show results. Three years later we moved to our house in a village not far from Prague and in April 2004 we finally bought our female Airedale – ERA FARGO KORAK, called AGATHA. I applied for the FCI kennel´s name and thus after many years my training activities changed into breeding activities..
